County College of Morris Foundation to host gala in support of its College Promise Programs

Energizing the Future-Themed Gala will also Honor Community Partners

RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – The County College of Morris (CCM) Foundation is set to host its annual gala event on Thursday, May 2 at Brooklake Country Club, located at 139 Brooklake Road, in Florham Park Borough.

The event will support CCM’s College Promise Programs, while also honoring community partners who have worked hard to help change lives and strengthen communities.

With this year’s gala theme being “Energizing the Future,” the evening will kick off with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m. featuring gourmet food stations plus fun activities like bourbon tasting, a silent auction and photo opportunities.

Immediately following is the dinner and program, which will highlight CCM’s College Promise Programs and honor community partners. The evening will conclude with additional exciting elements including a premium cigar lounge, specialty performance and auction winner results.

This year’s honorees include:

Philanthropy Awards

Impact100 Garden State, an all-volunteer, all-women organization for collective giving that awards grants to nonprofits in Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex and Union counties and Mimi Washington Starrett Foundation which provides grants to nonprofit organizations that significantly contribute to the well-being and economic development of Morris County, will both be presented with a Philanthropy Award.

Community Partnership Awards

Dover Public Schools and Morris School District, initial College Promise Program partners with CCM, will both be presented with a Community Partnership Award.

Dr. Edward J. Yaw Leadership Award

Dr. Joseph P. Nazzaro will receive the Dr. Edward J. Yaw Leadership Award. Nazzaro served 39 years at CCM, establishing the Office of Career Services and Financial Aid and serving as Executive Director of College Advancement and Planning. He is also the Former Executive Director of Leadership Morris of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce.

The College Promise Program is an innovative college readiness and college path program, specifically designed for the needs of first-generation/low-income high school students. The program is facilitated by CCM in conjunction with local school districts and community partners.

The College Promise Program provides students with academic and career workshops, college readiness seminars, tutoring, bilingual (Spanish) parental support, a college success course and a community-based project.

The curriculum focuses on the academic skills necessary to succeed in higher education and includes social and life skills. If the student chooses to enroll at CCM, the college provides last dollar tuition reimbursement to cover any outstanding student balance. All proceeds from the gala will support student scholarships and educational programs.

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music.
