Man charged with animal cruelty after 2 dogs left in crate outside in freezing weather in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man has been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly leaving two dogs outside in a crate during freezing weather in Mount Olive Township.

On Jan. 21, at around 9:26 a.m., police responded to Goldmine Road for a report of two dogs located in their crate unattended The outside temperature to be approximately 15 degrees, police said.

An officer requested additional patrol officers to respond and assist with relocating the dogs safely into their patrol vehicles to get warm and out of the cold temperature, police said.

The Animal Control Officer responded to police headquarters and took possession of the dogs, police said.

The investigation was turned over to the Mount Olive Police Investigations Division, who identified the dogs’ owner as Felipe Rogelnarce, 44, of Dover, police said.

Rogelnarce was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. He was then released pending a court appearance, police said.
